Spotlight on Knife Throwing
The World Knife Throwing Championships is the ultimate competition for specialists in the sport of knife throwing. Played near the end of each year, 64 competitors look to walk away with the coveted prize. Qualification to the world championships is also done via league competitions. Throwing knives must be at least 13.5 inches and may be no longer than 16 inches. The handle must also be of a certain length and the weight cannot exceed 1.65 lbs. Managed by the World Knife Throwing League (WKTL), the sport has been unified and given direction with the formation of a league competition in various locations played mainly in North America. The WKTL was founded by Mario Zelaya with the purpose of bringing an ancient pastime and skill to the modern world and growing the sport globally.
