Seiser Alm hosted the FIS Snowboard Slopestyle World Cup with Vlad Khadarin of Russia and Tess Coady of Australia as the winners

The week in review

25th November to 1st December

Last week when we posted the review, the FIFA U17 Football World Cup Final still had to be completed. Brazil overcame Mexico 2-1 and thereby added another title to their many World Championships won over the years. Staying with football and over to Africa where Egypt have become the new U23 Africa Cup of Nations champions. The hosts beat Cote d'Ivoire 2-1 in the final played earlier today. These two teams, together with South Africa who won the third place play-off, have booked their tickets to the Tokyo Olympics. From Saturday until the 11th December, the Philippines will be host to the 30th Southeast Asian Games. It is one of the smaller World Games events, but certainly not less important or less popular judging by the number of years it has been running. In Badminton this week we have the final World Tour event welcomed by Lucknow in India before there is a two-week break in preparation for the Finals in Guangzhou, China. Staying in China and on this occasion Chengdu will host the Table Tennis Men's World Cup over next weekend.

Three World Championships will feature this week. On Monday, Burnaby in British Columbia will showcase the Ringette World Championships from Monday to Sunday. The sport, relatively small in representation, is played on ice by women only and has close similarities with Ice Hockey. The object moved across the ice is a plastic ring with the tip of the stick placed within the ring giving the competitor the opportunity to pass it to a team mate or shoot for goal. There are seven teams featuring at the event. The second World Championship is the UCI Masters Cyclo-Cross World Championship in Mol, Belgium. We then look at Handball and from Saturday the 24th IHF Women's World Championship will head to Japan where Kumamoto will welcome the teams. The FIA E-Prix World Championship started on Friday with a double-header at Diriyah in Saudi Arabia. Alexander Sims currently leads the table on 28 points. Next Sunday it is the final round of the FIA Formula One World Championship with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton has already sealed the title, but it has not slowed him down in any way. Bonn is the location for the final major Para Sport event under the Paralympic governing body. The 2019 Para Dance Sport World Championships feature from Friday until Sunday.
