Supporting and promoting every sport worldwide

The week in review

23rd to 29th November

For motorsport fans, last weekend was an amazing experience. You may not follow all the sports, but with three world champions crowned on the same day, it did make it a very unique outcome. We look at the FIA Touring Car Cup firstly with the French driver, Yann Ehrlacher, becoming the youngest champion in the history of the sport. Lewis Hamilton won the Formula One World Championship for the 7th time, a record he now shares with Michael Schumacher. Finally, Spanish rider Joan Mir, became the winner of the MotoGP World Championship. A Spanish rider winning the coveted title has not been surrendered since the Australian Casey Stoner last won it in 2011. Dustin Johnson was crowned The Masters champion last Sunday comfortably winning by five strokes. Fan Zhendong won the Men's Table Tennis World Cup in Weihai, making it his third consecutive title. Kitesports added a new discipline and last weekend Fortaleza in Brazil hosted the Hydrofoil Freestyle World Cup. Fred Hope of the United States was crowned the first ever champion.

Winter sports are here with Sigulda in Latvia hosting the first IBSF Skeleton and Bobsleigh World Cup of the new season. Janine Flock of Austria became the first women's skeleton champion in only her second ever race in Sigulda. Local star Martins Dukurs became the men's champion. We had an earlier Alpine World Cup event last month, but the Ski & Snowboard season is fully operational from this weekend onward. We will keep you updated on all the winners for every discipline. Other news is the Solheim Cup will feature on even years from 2024 to avoid clashing with the Ryder Cup. The event was canceled for 2020 and will now feature next year. Several women's rugby union qualifying matches for the Rugby World Cup 2021 in New Zealand, still have to be completed. The draw has been made in the meantime and England have been drawn with France in the same group.

This week is also the start of the 2020-2021 UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup series, including the new Luge season. The Nitto ATP Finals 2020 brings the tennis season to a close and today are the semi-finals. We may still see a Djokovic v Nadal final. Until next time, have a great sporting week!
