Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh was selected to host the 32nd Southeast Asian Games from 5-17 May. Cambodia 2023 as it is more commonly known as, represents the first occasion for the nation to host the biennial sporting event. This year it was meant to be the Philippines. However in 2019, Brunei withdrew meaning the honour for the Philippines was brought forward. Over six thousand athletes from eleven nations compete in a diverse range of sports very unique to the region. Some of these include Kun Khmer, Sepak Takraw, Soft tennis, Arnis, Wushu, Kun Bokator, Pencak Silat, and Vovinam. While the SEA Games are in progress, more senior athletes will be heading over to Jeonbuk in South Korea for Asia Pacific Master Games 2023 from 12-20 May. 

Drancy is a commune in the northeastern suburbs of Paris and recently hosted a Draughts World Cup and a Draughts 1st World Amateur Championship. Jan Groenendijk (NED) and Viktoriya Motrichko (UKR) are the World Cup champions, while the World Amateur Champions are Gabriele D'Amora (ITA) and Jelizaveta Zaharova (LAT). Over to boxing news where home hero Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez defeated Britain's John Ryder in Guadalajara, Mexico. The champion defended his undisputed super-middleweight crown on points.

Nick Cassidy (NZL) drove to victory in the Monaco E-Prix from ninth position on the grid on Saturday, placing him in charge of the overall standings. The next stop for the FIA Formula E World Championship is Jakarta for two rounds, before we head to the United States, Italy, and Great Britain to complete the season at the end of July. Max Verstappen overhauled teammate Sergio Perez to win the FIA Formula One World Championship Miami Grand Prix. At the Kansas Speedway, Denny Hamlin secured his first win of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series

USA's Chase Sexton (450SX) and RJ Hampshire (250SX) were the winners on Saturday in Denver, Colorado, at the penultimate round of the AMA Supercross Championship. Next weekend the championship is in Salt Lake City for the Final. Hunter Lawrence (AUS) looks set to be crowned the 250SX champion, but the race between Chase Sexton (USA) and Eli Tomac (USA) in the 450SX is much closer. The Ventura Short Track in Ventura, California, made its debut in the Progressive American Flat Track on Saturday. With three wins already this season, Dallas Daniels (USA) further extended his position on the overall standings. Alvaro Bautista (ESP) dominated the weekend to win all three races of the FIM Superbike World Championship in front of home supporters at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Stage 2 of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship was also held in Spain. Brad Freeman (GBR) took the top podium position. Jeffrey Herlings (NED) completed a perfect weekend and a record 102th GP win of the FIM Motocross World Championship with round six hosted in Spain.

Jeanni Metzler and Sam Long are the champions of the IRONMAN 70.3 North American Championship hosted at St. George in Utah. Remaining with triathlons where France's Marjolaine Pierre and Clement Mignon claimed gold in the World Triathlon Long Distance World Championship in Ibiza, Spain. Jakarta was the next location for the International Sport Climbing Federation Speed World Cup over the weekend. Local star Raharjati Nursamsa and Aleksandra Miroslaw (POL) became the champions. Annemiek van Vleuten (NED) has won the Vuelta España Femenina, a UCI Women's WorldTour race, hosted in Spain over the last week.

On Saturday Aryna Sabalenka (BLR) beat Iga Swiatek in the Mutua Madrid Open, while home hero Carlos Alcaraz successfully defended his title on Sunday against Jan-Lennard Struff. Stine Jacobsen (DEN) and Leon Griffiths (GBR) currently lead the rankings in the Federation of International Racketlon World Tour 2023

France has beaten Great Britain 55-49 in the final of the 2023 World Wheelchair Rugby European Championship held in Cardiff. Denmark defeated Germany for the bronze medal. Jimmy White has beaten fellow Londoner Alfie Burden 5-3 to win the World Seniors Snooker Championship. Federiko Staksrud and Anna Leigh Waters are the singles winners of the North Caroline Open played in Charlotte, the next round of the Professional Pickleball Association World Tour. Matt Wright & Riley Newman claimed the men's doubles, while Waters capped her weekend in the women's doubles with Catherine Parenteau and in the mixed doubles with Jack Sock.
