The Weekend Sports Review Part 2

27th - 28th May

Josef Newgarden earned his first Indianapolis 500 victory on Sunday in a frenetic finish to the race. Also known as the Indy 500, the coveted title forms part of the Triple Crown of Motorsport. The other two events are the Monaco Grand Prix (Formula One) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (World Endurance Championship). The win moves Newgarden to fourth on the table of the NTT IndyCar Series, with Alex Palou leading on 219 points.

The next leg of the International Bodyboarding Corporation World Tour completed the final day in Antofagasta, Chile, on Sunday. Japan's Sari Ohhara and South Africa's Tristan Roberts are the Women's and Men's Elite Champions. Hawaii's Dave Hubbard claimed the dropknee title. The Association of Pickleball Professionals Tour stopped at New York City. Salome Devidze and Will Sobek claimed the Women's and Men's Singles titles. Simone Jardim and Parris Todd remain undefeated Women's Doubles Champions, while the Men's Doubles Champions are Andrei Daescu and Rob Nunnery.

Hawaii's Carissa Moore and USA's Griffin Colapinto won the Surf Ranch Pro at Lemoore, California, Event 6 of the World Surf League Championship Tour. The win moves both pro surfers to the top of the rankings.

Please note the next race of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series has been postponed to Monday. We will report on that at the next review.

Until next time, have a great week in sport.
