Some of the bigger world tournaments are nearing conclusion today and also in the next few weeks. We have seen some fantastic football from various World Cup and Continental competitions. Today we have three finals. In Paris the reigning champions USA will take on The Netherlands in the FIFA Women's World Cup, while in Rio de Janeiro the hosts Brazil take on Peru in the Copa America final. A few hours later Mexico take on USA in the CONCACAF final at Soldier Field in Chicago. Over to Egypt and the concluding matches of the Round of 16 feature in the Africa Cup of Nations later today and tomorrow. So far Senegal, Benin, Nigeria and South Africa have booked their places in the quarter-finals. In Apia the 16th Pacific Games has already started today with the opening ceremony. Over 3000 athletes will be descending on the capital of Samoa for various types of sport over the next two weeks. The closing ceremony is on Saturday, 20th July. The city of Napoli has been enjoying the company of the world's top student athletes in the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire 30th Summer Universiade. The summer games conclude on Sunday.

Over to the ICC Cricket World Cup where the top four teams were already determined on Friday, but not the order of play. That was finally established in the last group matches of the tournament when India played Sri Lanka and Australia played South Africa. India won to top the table, while Australia lost and moved to second place. India will now face New Zealand on Tuesday and Australia will face England on Thursday. The final is scheduled for Sunday at Lord's. The biggest road race on the UCI WorldTour started yesterday in Brussels, As Chris Froome, the champion of 2018, has now returned home to recover further from his injuries, we will have a new winner this year. We will keep you up to date of the latest owner of the Yellow Jersey over the next three weeks. Next Friday is also the start of the biggest aquatics event on the FINA calendar. The FINA World Championships 2019 will be hosted by Gwangju in South Korea until the 28th July. In motor racing the final event of the FIA Formula E World Championship heads to New York for two days of racing on Saturday and Sunday. Jean-Éric Vergne of France leads the standings on 130 points.

Liverpool in England will be the host city for the Vitality Netball World Cup 2019 from Friday until the 21st July. Sixteen teams will be involved with Australia as the top ranked team and defending champion. In rugby union the World Rugby U20 Trophy 2019 starts on Tuesday in various locations in Brazil. The teams involved are Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Kenya, Portugal, Tonga and Uruguay. The tournament also acts as a qualifying event for the World Rugby U20 Championship. Finally, Wimbledon has a rest day today before we go to the final week of matches. The finals are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Let's hope the teenage sensation Coco Gauff will continue with her winning form this week. Until next time, have a great sporting week.
