We begin the week with the final military sports competition of the year. Baku in Azerbaijan brings together the best wrestlers from all international militaries to compete at the 36th WMC Wresting. Jazz dancing is the discipline in Belgium's coastal town De Panne. The International Dance Organization presents the World Jazz Championships over four days. Colombia's Cartagena is located on the Caribbean Sea and becomes the base for the first major sailing competition of the week. Experts of the Lightning Class contest the South American, Masters and World Championships for nearly two weeks.

Jeddah in Saudi Arabia hosts the next generation of tennis stars at the Next Gen ATP Finals beginning on Tuesday. The FIS Alpine World Cup Tour is in North America this week. The Men feature in Colorado's Beaver Creek in Downhill and Super G. 

Xiangwan Beach on China's Xiangzhou Bay begins the International Kiteboarding Association Kitefoil World Series Final on Wednesday. The relatively new sport of Teqball has its World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. Denmark, Norway, and Sweden share the duties as hosts of the 26th International Handball Federation Women's World Championship. Para Snowboarders compete in the Netherland's Landgraaf at the FIS Banked Slalom World Cup. Equestrian fans  head to the Desert International Horse Park near Thermal in California for a major show jumping competition.

Snowboarders spend three days in Beijing from Thursday for the FIS Big Air World Cup. Moving further southwest to Perth for two International Canoe Federation competitions. Seniors and Masters contest the Ocean Racing World Championships. Norway's Lillehammer hosts a number of major events. We begin with the Para Sport Bobsleigh World Cup, and the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup. Joining the World Jazz Championships in De Panne, there is one day for the IDO World Ballet Championships. The second major World Sailing competition moves to Miami where experts in the Melges 20 class contest the World Championship. Proclaimed as one of the toughest mountain bike races, La Ruta 2023 takes us to Siquirres in Costa Rica over three days. 

We begin Friday in Taipei City where the world's best ultra runners take on the International Association of Ultrarunners 24 hours World Championships. Eleven sports will be on show at the 2023 World Abilitysport Games in Thailand's Nakhon Ratchasima. The Games for para athletes will also include three exhibition sports. The first of four FIE Junior Fencing World Cup competitions within the week begins in Antalya, Turkey, The masters are in action in Hamburg competing in the UCI Masters Cyclo-Cross World Championships. Norway's Stavanger hosts the first of three speed skating competitions this week. The seniors feature in the ISU World Cup Speed Skating. The second competition to join the cross country skiers in Lillehammer is the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup for both women and men. The IDO World Modern & Contemporary Championships join the jazz dance and ballet experts in De Panne. Les Deux Alpes is a ski resort in the French department of Isère. It becomes the home for snowboarders at the FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup until Sunday. Casas Novas is the second big show jumping event this week at the port city A Coruña in northern Spain. The next generation of luge stars gather in Utah's Park City for the 1st Junior World Cup

The Narromine Gliding Club in New South Wales, Australia, begins Saturday with the 37th FAI World Gliding Championships. Further FIE Junior Fencing World Cup competitions feature in China's Hong Kong, Uzbekistan's Tashkent, and Germany's Laupheim. Singapore brings the best floorball stars together at the Women's World Floorball Championships. Ten Dance is the discipline in Kazakhstan's Astana where the youth compete at the WDSF World Championship. The first round of the revamped World Rugby Sevens Series begins in Dubai. The shorter version and renamed SVNS Series includes eight cities and completes in Madrid in June next year. Freestyle skiers head to Ruka in Finland for the FIS Moguls and Aerials World Cup. Moving across the border to their neighbours, Sweden's Gällivare hosts the FIS Cross Country World Cup. Junior speed skaters are in action in Italy's Collalbo competing in the ISU World Cup Speed Skating, while Leeuwarden in the Netherlands hosts the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating. The World Darts Federation presents nine days of the World Championships in England's Frimley Green. Open water swimmers head to the warmer waters of Portugal's Madeira island where Funchal is the base of the World Aquatics Open Water World Cup Stop 5. The Mont-Tremblant Ski Resort in Quebec is the next venue of the FIS Alpine World Cup Tour for women. Park City concludes the major events for Saturday with the 2nd Youth World Cup featuring luge. 

Sprint is the discipline in Hong Kong during the 2023 Annual Orienteering Championships. We move over to the resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh for the final carom billiards competition of the year. The UMB World Cup 3-Cushion features until the following Saturday. Round 6 of the 2023/2024 UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup takes us to France's Flamanville in the north-western region of the country.
