Many sports have evolved into shorter, more condensed formats, acting as an addition to the original game we are accustomed to. Examples include cricket's T20, netball fives, and rugby sevens. Basketball created the popular 3-player version, more commonly known as the FIBA 3x3 World Tour. Debrecen in Hungary opens Monday with the FIBA 3x3 Under 18 World Cup. The first World Sailing competition of the week is the RS Aero World Championships at England's Hayling Island. Yes, gravy wrestling is a sport, and Bacup in England hosts the World Championships. Monday is also a public holiday in the United Kingdom (except Scotland). Our final Grand Slam of the season is the US Open Tennis Championships in New York City. 

Students from around the world gather in Kuortane and Seinäjoki, Finland, to showcase their golf skills at the FISU World University Championships Golf beginning on Tuesday. Remaining in Finland, Lahti is the location for the Flag Football World Championships. Prague hosts the World Deaf Beach Volleyball Championships. The capital city Lima has been a favourite for several major international sports events over the previous two weeks. On this occasion, future athletics stars descend on the Estadio Atlético de la Videna to compete in the World Athletics Under 20 Championships

We begin Wednesday in Valetta, the capital city of Malta and a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the sub-juniors and juniors compete in the World Classic and Equipped Powerlifting Championships. Paris has had a short break, and is once again ready for the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games. Freestyle is the discipline at France's Dunkerque as the Global Kitesports Association presents the next stage of the World Cup Tour. We go to higher altitudes where Andorra's Pal Arinsal becomes the home of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships. Six different classes will be on display in various age groups. Lima will be ready for a further two major competitions. These are the World Aquatics Artistic Swimming Junior Championships and the Judo World Championships for Cadets. The chuckwagon season comes to a climactic end in Ponoka, Canada, at the WPCA World Chuckwagon Finals.  

Rome is preparing to welcome a festival of roller sports. The World Skate Games 2024 begin on Thursday and close on Monday, 23 September. The second competition of the week for deaf athletes spends 11 days in Germany's Hanover. Various disciplines of shooting sport will be contested. The second major cycling event visits Aalborg in Denmark, for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. Roundnet is a popular sport in the United States, but is also gaining popularity in other nations around the world. On Thursday, Guildford in England, hosts the World Championship. CrossFit recently had their main CrossFit Games. Three Rivers in Michigan hosts the Teenage CrossFit Games, while the Masters CrossFit Games feature in Birmingham, Alabama. Group C of the II Under 18 Women's Softball World Cup heads to Dallas, Texas. We then head further west where Las Vegas hosts the World Master Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship

Friday begins in New Zealand where the ski resort of Cardrona brings many of the best snowboarders together at the Slopestyle World Cup. We then head to Gdańsk, Poland, for the second World University Championship of the week. On this occasion it is for the best triathletes. Lando Norris is now 70 points behind Max Verstappen in the driver standings of the FIA Formula One World Championship. The next stop is the Italian Grand Prix. Also a Grand Prix of Italy, one of powerboating's biggest competitions, the UIM F2 World Championship, spends the weekend in San Nazzaro. The Ciudad del Motor de Aragón in Spain is the next race track for the FIM MotoGP World Championship. The Curtis Cup is one of the most prestigious competitions for women amateur golfers. Sunningdale in England is the venue for 2024. 

We again begin the day in New Zealand. Merino Muster is the next Worldloppet Ski Marathon gold race in Wānaka on Saturday. Flying disc fans and experts spend over a week at Australia's Gold Coast to compete in two competitions. These are the World Ultimate Championships and the World Guts Championships. Show Dance Latin will be on display at the World DanceSport Federation World Championship in Bulgaria's Burgas. The FIM Speedway Grand Prix season has 11 rounds. The Grand Prix of Poland at Wroclaw makes up round 8. Czechia's Prostějov becomes the home of three major World Air Sports Federation World Championships. These include the Junior World Style and Accuracy Landing, the World Canopy Formation, and the World Style and Accuracy Landing. The World Mountain Running Association presents two World Cup raises over the weekend at Casto in Italy. Brunnen, a resort on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland, hosts the Tempest World Championship, the next major World Sailing event. Germany's Hanover is the location for Round III of the UCI Cycle-Ball World Cup. Closing off the day, the tough terrain of Maine's Sugarloaf Mountain is perfect for the XTERRA Planet Trail World Championship

Three main competitions feature on Sunday. The World Backgammon Internet Federation presents the Team Championships for both women and men. The Circuit of the Americas in Texas is the race track for the next stage of the FIA World Endurance Championship. Professional Latin Dance is the discipline at Garden Grove, California, at the World Dance Council World Championship.
