Hamilton, located on New Zealand's North Island, opens the week with the World Pool Association World 8-Ball Championship. Bringing many of the best pool players together to the city, it is the first of three major competitions. Two World University Championships also start today. Squash is the sport in Johannesburg, South Africa, while Rio de Janeiro hosts all Beach Sports. Authentic Big Blue 2024 in Mytikas, Greece, becomes the perfect location to test the skills of freedivers. The Louis Vuitton Cup, a sailing competition to determine the challenger to the current holder of the America's Cup, is currently in progress. In addition, there are several more World Sailing events this week. The M32 Class World Championship features at Lake Garda's northern shore in Italy. We then head to France's western coastline where Bénodet hosts the 5.5 Metre Class World Championship. Freestyle, Greco-Roman, and Women's Wrestling will all be on display at Spain's Pontevedra in the United World Wrestling U20 World Championships.
On Tuesday, Hamilton is joined by the WPA Women's World 9-Ball Championship. Dragon boat racing comes to Ravenna in Italy where the best club will be crowned at the World Championship. The second freediving competition is presented by the International Association for the Development of Apnea. The 33rd AIDA Freediving World Championship features near Ajaccio on the island of Corsica. We complete Tuesday with a Show Jumping World Cup in Santo Amaro, Brazil.
We go back to Italy for beach tennis. Presented by the International Tennis Federation, Cervia hosts the Beach Tennis World Championships. Casting sport uses the same equipment as shore fishermen, but competitions are held on sporting fields. Spain's Castellon hosts the International Casting Sport Federation World Championship. The over 35s converge on the Seseña Waterski Complex, located south of Madrid, for the Waterski World Championship. The third World Sailing event is the Star Class World Championship in San Diego.
The juniors then join the men and women in Hamilton from Thursday to compete in the WPA World Junior Championship. Four race weekends remain of the FIA World Rally Championship. Lamia in Greece is the service park for the WRC Rally Greece over the weekend. The historical city of Alghero on the island of Sardinia, hosts the World Aquatics Open Water Swimming Junior World Championships. Testing the strength and technique of experts of tug of war, Mannheim in Germany becomes the home of the TWIF Outdoor World Championships.
Friday opens in Japan's Fuji with the second Show Jumping World Cup competition of the week. We then cross the East China Sea where baseball comes to the city of Shaoxing for the V Under 23 World Cup. Thailand's Phuket hosts the 4th round of the CMAS 18th Indoor Finswimming World Cup. The youth gather in Sri Lanka's Waskaduwa to test their knowledge at the World Youth Scrabble Championship. The International Committee of Sports for the Deaf presents the World Deaf Sailing Championships in Nida, Lithuania. Staying with para sports, Slovakia's Košice features the Para Dance Sport World Cup. We then cross to Koper in Slovenia with lead as the discipline at the Sport Climbing World Cup. The Grass Skiing World Cup season comes to an end with the finals in Rettenbach, Austria. Italy's Rodi Garganico completes round 4 of the Motosurf World Championship. The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli becomes the home of the next stage of the FIM MotoGP World Championship. We then cross to Tarquinia on the west coast where the Dart 18 Class World Championship will be held. Completing all the major events in Italy for Friday, are the World Rowing Coastal Championships in Genoa. The tough terrain near Loudenvielle in France is the next location of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. The famous Nevers Magny Cours Circuit hosts the French Round of the FIM Superbike World Championship. One of the ultimate challenges for mountain runners, Soria in Spain brings the world's best together at the Skyrunning World Championships. The final event to begin on Friday takes us to Pontrhydfendigaid in Wales for round 2 of the World Downhill Skateboarding World Championship.
Snowboarders are replaced on Saturday by freestyle skiers at New Zealand's Cardrona. Freeski Halfpipe is the discipline at the FIS Freestyle World Cup. The women's FIBA 3x3 World Tour comes to an end for this year at China's Hangzhou with the Finals. Latvia's Riga becomes the stop for round 9 of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix. There is a lot of interest at the 25th edition of the Sumo World Championships in Krotoszyn, Poland. The World Heavy Events Association presents the World Strongman/Woman Championships at Finland's Kuopio. Our next major World Sailing event takes us to the picturesque Tuscany in Italy. Punta Ala is a frazione of the town of Castiglione della Pescaia, and hosts the A-Class Catamaran World Championship. The UCI Cycle-Ball World Cup has reached round 4 at Germany's Darmstadt. We then move to Bielstein for the UCI E-Mountain Bike World Cup. The small Danish town of Hvide Sande on the Holmsland Dunes, is a popular destination for windsurfers and kiteboarders. The International Funboard Class Association presents the Slam Fin Slalom World Championship. The Virtus World Tennis Championship at France's Annecy is for athletes with intellectual impairment. We go back to Easdale Island on the west coast of Scotland for the World Stone Skimming Championships. Montalegre in Portugal hosts the World RX of Portugal 1 & 2, the next stage of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Casablanca's pristine beaches serve as the perfect location for the World Beach Sambo Championships. A gold event for ultrarunners, Mar del Plata in Argentina hosts the Americas Continental Championships. Saturday closes in Utah's Monroe as the city brings paragliders together at the next PWCA Paragliding World Cup.
Sunday begins with a multi-sport event. Astana in Kazakhstan hosts the 5th World Nomad Games. The MXGP of Türkiye in Afyonkarahisar, is one of three remaining race weekends of the FIM Motocross World Championship before the MXGP of Nations. We then head to the Transilvania Motor Ring in Romania for the next round of the FIM Supermoto World Championship. We are now at the 25th edition of the FIA World Hot Air Balloon Championship in Szeged, Hungary. World Triathlon presents two major races on Sunday. Czechia's Karlovy Vary hosts the World Triathlon Cup, while the World Triathlon Powerman Long Distance Duathlon Championships feature at Switzerland's Zofingen. Staying with triathlons, Madison in Wisconsin is the location for the next full Ironman.
