Para Sports are gaining world recognition and development through the work of one of the leading organisations in this field, the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS), also known as World Abilitysports. IWAS now has a membership of over 80 nations around the world and is dedicated to grow much further offering as many competition opportunities as possible for athletes with physical impairments. Every alternate years, two of the leading cometitions are staged, namely the IWAS World Games and IWAS World Youth Games. In addition, Wheelchair Fencing follows an annual season of World Cup competitions in various locations.
