Our new week begins in Saudi Arabia with the world's first Riyadh Season World Masters of Snooker 2024, becoming the nation's first-ever professional snooker event. Monday also has two IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships, both for Under 18s in Division III. Group A is in Istanbul, while Cape Town hosts Group B. The 49er and 49erFX Class is the big World Sailing Championship in Lanzarote, Canary Islands. 

Brazil is a favourite for paragliders. From Tuesday the Paragliding World Cup Association presents the Super Final in Baixo Guandu, a municipality in the state of Espírito Santo.

We also have only one major event on Wednesday. Canada's Prince George in British Columbia hosts the International Ski & Snowboard Federation Para Biathlon World Championships

As we approach the Paris Olympic Games in July, further important qualifying for gymnasts takes place in Azerbaijan's Baku. The FIG Apparatus World Cup begins on Thursday. South Africa's Bloemfontein hosts a major shooting sport competition. The International Confederation of Fullbore Rifle Association presents the World Long Range Championships. Speed skaters head to Germany's Inzell to compete in the ISU World Speed Skating Allround & Sprint Championships. With many of the best Nordic skiers from Norway, the nation's capital becomes the home of three major competitions. The first is the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup. We move then to 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands for the FEI Dressage World Cup, the next major equestrian event.

Freestyle skiers convene in Kazakhstan's Almaty on Friday as experts in Moguls compete in an FIS World Cup event. Fans of MotoGP can prepare for the new season as the Grand Prix of Qatar opens at Lusail. Sweden's Haparanda is the location for the next major Bandy World Cup. Extreme mountain running comes to Tarvisio in northern Italy as runners compete in the 2024 Skysnow World Championships. Lillehammer in Norway is home of the next Para Bobsleigh World Cup. Ski jumpers join the nordic combined experts in Oslo in an FIS World Cup event. Postponed from 2023, Ghana's Accra opens the 13th African Games. The IBU Biathlon World Cup tour moves to Soldier Hollow in Utah as their season also draws to a close.

We begin Saturday with two FIS Alpine World Cup competitions, both include Giant Slalom and Slalom. Slovenia's Kranjska Gora hosts the men, while the women compete in Sweden's Åre. Snowboarders head to Italy's Cortina for a Snowboard Cross World Cup, while Winterberg in Germany hosts Parallel Slalom. Para bobsleigh continues in Lillehammer with the World Championships. Completing the trio of events, cross-country skiers compete in their World Cup in Oslo over the weekend. New Jersey's Brendan T Byrne Forest brings together mushers and their teams in an IFSS Dryland World Cup race. We have now reached Round 9 of the SuperMotocross World Championship as the teams head to the Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama.

Curling resumes in South Korea's Gangneung with the World Wheelchair Mixed Doubles Championships. The third ice hockey event is also for Division III, but on this occasion it is a Senior World Championship for Group A in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The first of three races of the FIM Snowcross World Championship heads to Turkey's Kayseri. Ski marathoners move next to Switzerland's Samedan in a Worldloppet gold-label race. Argentina's resort town of Villa La Angostura opens the first round of the FIM Motocross World Championship. The week completes in Alaska's Matanuska-Susitna Valley for the start of the Arctic Winter Games 2024.
